One of my first weddings to photograph when I moved to France was at Chateau de la Motte Husson in the Loire which I had seen on the Channel 4 series Escape to the Chateau.
On the day of the wedding it was exciting to be driving down the Chateau’s driveway, past the Orangery and parking just over the little bridge a stones throw from Dicks vegetable garden. I was looking forward to the day, working in a new venue, but also a bit nervous to be meeting two TV personalities and spending the day with them in a work environment.
From my first meeting with Angel I realised that the person i had watched on TV was exactly the same person that I was chatting to over a coffee, kind, thoughtful, funny and extremely well organised are some my first impressions of working with Angel. I was so well looked after by everyone who was working there that day, did I want some more water? was I hungry? did I want a coffee?
What can I say about Dick? What a lovely person, a great cook (amazing beef and homemade horse raddish sauce) and so interesting and knowledgeable on so many subjects, we had a right natter on and off throughout the day which turned out to be brilliant.
I realised on that day how hard the two of them worked to make the day an exceptional one for their wedding guests, as did all their staff, I have returned several times to the Chateau to photograph couples tying the knot and every time I leave I look forward to coming back again!
